A computer or mobile phone need to have periodic software updates, their cache cleared, and virus defenses in place to run at ideal performance.
A reset here and there on these high level operating systems is imperative to dispose of unnecessary data, stay updated with the latest technical advances, and to re-scan for security threats.
Our brain is an incredible supercomputer that needs similar maintenance.
We can eat certain foods and exercise to nourish the physical aspect of our mind, which is very important, but too often we overlook the crucial need for worldview evaluation and improvement.
With all the information that we absorb and process through sight and incoming noise on a daily basis, it is virtually impossible to constantly filter out misinformation and inaccuracies that pour into our central processing unit.
We must do a cognitive reboot often in order to recenter and start afresh.
Here are three realities to reset your mind to align with absolute truth:
All words are made up
Every single word that we speak, regardless of the language, is merely air that quickly exits our lungs before hitting a muscle that vibrates that air into a specific sound.
All words are literally only lung puffs.
The letters that we write/type, regardless of the language, are only made-up symbols to coincide with our made-up sounds.
Even my words here that you hear in your head as you read along are 100% made-up as well. Essentially, I am using made-up words and symbols to help dissect and explain made-up words and symbols.
It is important to grasp the absolute truth that all religions, ideologies, laws, country names/borders, theories on existence and time, money, human names and much more were all created (and continue to be created) by made-up creature sounds and hand-scribbled symbols.
All of these creature-created identities, names, and beliefs only carry as much power as we allow them too.
In reality, they all intrinsically mean absolutely nothing. This constructive nihilism is a key part of a cognitive reset.
With this realization, we can step back and reevaluate everything about our day-to-day operating efficiency:
How much of our current lifestyle, beliefs, and choices are dictated by past outdated creatures’ lung puffs and hand scribbles?
How serious are we taking political strife, family drama, and other social conflict knowing that it is all most likely a disagreement about made-up shit?
How much are we allowing these “human sounds” to affect our mood, reasoning, identity, confidence, autonomy and so on?
We do need our sounds and symbols to navigate life alongside our species. Communication is vital for our survival.
However, we can train our minds to prioritize what we choose to compute and store, and then dump the mass amounts of pointless data that only weigh down our mind.
No one has the answer to life’s origin
In our early existence, with accurate knowledge unknown at the time, it was our imagination that created the “answers” to just about everything that could be seen yet not understood.
Our ancestors really had no other option than to make up god(s), create elaborate tales of their creation, and conjure up fantasies of an afterlife to make sense of that which couldn’t be comprehended at the time.
With advancements in technology, exploration, and scientific discovery, we have slowly been able to replace those “imagination answers” with evidence, logic, and evolved awareness.
We continue to discover new human species that cancel out any earthly origin guesses made by previous minds. We continue to learn more and more about the vastness of space and the open-ended possibilities beyond our tiny space rock.
We now understand that the state of the universe today is the by-product of a very long viscous cycle of entropy and rebirth, not the by-product of a invisible creator that was made-up by past ignorant minds.
We now understand that our bodies, along with the other creatures that dwell on this planet, didn’t “poof” into existence, but are the flawed by-product of a tumultuous journey of evolutionary trial and error.
A creator would require a creator that created the creator, naturally needing a creator that created the creator that created the creator, etc, which becomes silly.
The concept of an afterlife sounds awesome, but again, only emotion-driven wishful thinking. When a plant or animal (including us) die, that organic operating system stops functioning. The end.
While it is an absolute truth that no one knows the answer to life’s origin, our modern science gives way to confidently eliminate the far-fetched imagination-based conclusions of our primitive ancestors and embrace more accurate information.
The bottom line is that there is no need for that answer to life’s origin.
We just are. Existence just is. Anything beyond that is 100% made up by ape-like creatures.
We can freely just enjoy being alive and taking in as much pleasure with our evolved senses as we possible can. This awareness is a massive performance enhancing software upgrade to our intellectual capability.
Collective awakening is inevitable
It is wild to think that our species used to:
- torture one another and lop off heads without hesitation
- hunt and eat other humans
- sacrifice each other (and children) to appease imaginary masters
- enslave and exploit one another
- believe that the sun, moon, and other natural elements were gods
- destroy entire civilizations/people groups over made-up religious superstitions
- think that a sneeze was a demon exiting the body
- believe the planet was flat
- treat women as less than
- actually believe that a space wizard gives any fucks about a certain skin tone or society over another
- worship anything, period.
- believe that middle eastern life advice through metaphor and simile has any relevance to modern sociocultural behavior/thinking
I’ll stop to stay within my desired word count, but clearly this list could go on for a while.
While some of the above still does occur around the world, it is without question that these mindsets and ways of life have tremendously decreased around the globe and continue to fade away with each passing day.
Progression was always, and will continue to be, inevitable.
Inventions like the radio, television, and internet have opened up access to more information about our once mysterious world. Advancements in aviation have broadened worldviews by providing a feasible way to experience diverse cultures beyond our borders.
Breakthroughs in genetics research and evolutionary biology have commanded a new reverence toward all living organisms, regardless of skin color or species.
Revelations within astronomy and anthropology have eliminated the legitimacy of human-created gods.
It is understandable that our species unknowingly built cognitive artificial walls around themselves. And it is only natural that through continued education we have torn down those walls to reveal open fields of autonomy and critical thinking.
We’ve always been waking up intellectually, and some societies have awoken quicker than others.
Those that hold onto conservative or regressive beliefs/ways of life, while completely free to do so, only limit themselves and others by trying to merge 1970’s macintosh software into the advanced computing technology of today.
Some people do operate with a very sharp and updated processing unit that operates on a strong worldview driven by a solid acceptance of absolute truths.
There are others that live their lives only within the artificial walls of outdated information that they were conditioned to operate within.
For myself, I lived almost thirty years functioning under inaccurate information and outdated ideologies. I ended up going beyond a standard reset to having to uninstall all programming on my system and reboot with the most accurate software available.
I rebuilt my entire cognitive awareness and knowledge from the ground up, this time based on reason, logic, and structured around the absolute truths addressed above.
This deconstruction process, although fucking hard, has elevated my daily life to a level that I never saw possible.
Most of the world has the privilege of having access to the most accurate information about our existence than anyone living before us.
Today, there is virtually no excuse for ignorance.
So the next time that you feel it might be time for a physical or emotional reset, maybe do yourself an extra solid and see what kind of worldview updates are trending.
